As the weather improves the outdoor sporting activities start to take over the social calendar, there are of course those which we just sit back and watch like Wimbledon and horse racing. However, there are events that we can all get involved in like the Marathon and the many race for life events that occur across the country. If you are taking part in a sporting event this summer, be inspired to get training and raise your fitness levels.
More than Just Good Intentions
You can run in the name of a massive selection of charities and raise lots of money but the one hitch is that you have to be fit enough to run either a few miles or a marathon! You don’t need to do much training for the race for life if you are planning to walk but if you want to run or jog it is advised that you embark on a fitness regime in order to have a base fitness level in preparation for the race. It goes without saying that if you are planning on running a longer race or one of the many marathons that are coming up in the next few months that you will need to get fit for the event.
The obvious and best home gym equipment to train for such an event is a treadmill; you can manage the distance and the speed and can therefore build up your own training regime. Many modern treadmills have such advanced technology that you can effectively monitor your heart rate and see your fitness improving as you continue with your training. As you train your heart race increases and it is at this level that you start to burn calories and start working your muscles out turning fat into muscle, so you become trimmer and race fit.
One of the best products on the market is the Reebok iRun treadmill, ideal for the first time runner it is easy to put together and can be easily folded and stored away after you have trained. The functions are simple to use and you can create your own training regime from the programmes available of which there are 5.
It is easy to store and can be moved effortlessly with the help of some wheels on the underside of one end. This means that you can fold it and then move it to your desired location, saving you energy after your workout which is ideal!
Beat the Weather
Most of the world’s major marathon events take place in the spring which is ideal running weather but this means that the training for the event will take place over the winter months. It can be hard to motivate yourself to go outside into the cold and wet to do your training, this is where home gym equipment really comes into its own. You can train in the comfort of your own home no matter what the weather which is very important because you cannot run a marathon if you don’t train. So get on your treadmill and push yourself to improve your stamina and give yourself the confidence to run a good race.
It does not matter what event you are training for, using a treadmill such as the iRun treadmill is a great way to do it.
