Sunless tanning or airbrush tanning is a form of tanning that is applied to the skin with a spray solution. You can do it yourself with products you purchase from your local grocery or drug store or you go to a salon that does sunless tanning in a booth. There are even technicians that have portable booths and will go to your home or office. It if worth spending the extra money to get an even tan all over and you can choose the level of tan you want.
The tanning solution is made mainly from dihydroxyactone, know as DHA. DHA is approved by the FDA. It temporarily darkens the outer layer of your skin until the dead skin cells naturally wash away, usually about 5-7 days.
To get the most out your airbrushed tan, it is recommended that you exfoliate, wash, shave and moisturize any part of your skin that you are going to have sprayed. Exfoliating your skin before hand, wipes away the excess dead skin cells leaving your skin with an even layer to be tanned.
For those who love having tanned skin, sunless tanning is a great option and avoids the harmful and cancer causing ultraviolet (UV) rays you get from the sun or a tanning booth.
Compared to lotions, gels and mousses, that can leave your hands stained, spray tanning is a hands-free process and the spray helps to insure a good, even tan. The store bought products usually take 8-24 hours to see results, with the spray tan you can see results in about an hour.
The spray tanning solution will stain your clothes, so be sure to wear a dark bathing suit or undies. You will also need to wait about 1/2 hour for solution to thoroughly dry before getting dressed, so bring a book or magazine to keep you company.
I'm MaryEllen Tudor, and I like airbrush tanning but wanted to get some facts before I had it done. I spent a lot of time collecting facts from salons and the internet. I have compiled the results in a free report. http://www.batonrougeairbrushtanningfacts.com
