There are a lot of advantages to using kitchen tiles as a wall covering in your kitchen. These advantages mean that kitchen tiles are as popular today as they have ever been and although there are lots of different ways to cover a wall and decorate your kitchen, ceramic tiles are an excellent product for areas such as this. Although the manufacture of kitchen tiles hasn’t altered much over the years, they are still as hard wearing, easy to install and beneficial as they have ever been.
Ceramic kitchen tiles are so popular as they are very hard wearing, offer good stain resistance, are extremely water proof, are relatively cheap compared to other wall coverings, are available in a huge range of colours, patterns, sizes and shapes and on top of all of this they are fairly quick and easy to fit. With a few specialist tools and a little know-how, almost anyone can have a go at fitting kitchen tiles and achieve a pleasing result. Regardless of your do-it-yourself ability, you can achieve a good result and the fact that kitchen tiles are quite inexpensive means that you can purchase additional spare tiles so that if you make a mistake you can keep trying until you get the job right. One thing I would definitely recommend is an electric tile cutter. Manual ones are fine and can work extremely well but when I was installing my own kitchen tiles I invested in an electric one and it made the job much easier and gave a very professional finish to the walls I was working on. Electric cutters are also much easier to use if you have odd shapes to cut rather than just complete straight cuts and these more intricate cuts can be done with a much greater degree of accuracy than manually.
Ceramic kitchen tiles are so good at providing a waterproof barrier between water and your wall because they have been baked at very high temperate which makes the shiny and hardwearing. They also have a glazed finish which water cannot penetrate. The glazed finish also makes them easy to clean and gives them a stain resistant property. They are also fairly cheap and easy to replace should any become damaged, just ensure that you have a few spares left over when buying them.
When I was fitting my kitchen tiles I bought them from a company called Johnson Tiles. They had a very wide range of sizes and styles and weren’t particularly expensive so I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to other people looking to buy tiles. They were also fast at delivering them and the quality was excellent.
