One component of good health is taking care of our skin as we become older. Younger children have the luxury of ignoring to wash their faces for several days with no ill-effects. However, adults will suffer breaking-out should they attempt the same thing. Of course figuring out which skin care products work best for you is more than a little bit of a challenge. You may be surprised to know that many adults are frustrated with skin care. We offer some proven tips you may find useful in your search for what's right for you and your skin.
Never forget that facial skin is the most sensitive skin on a person's body. Just because something markets itself as an "all over" product does not mean that it is truly meant for all of your skin.
Things are different when you're young and it was no problem to wash all over with any old soap. But when an adult does that it only strips away the natural moisture that helps keep the skin looking healthy. You'll be doing your facial skin a huge favor by understanding and accepting that as you age, the skin on your face will need products that are different from what can be safely used elsewhere.
Discover what you skin really needs and use it in your own skin care regimen. Some people need a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. Others break out if they use toner and still others find that using a moisturizer makes their face feel itchy or heavy. Then you'll find some lucky folks who can get by with only using a quality cleanser. And others will need all three products and maybe a special skin product for certain areas. If you are using only cleanser and are still prone to breakouts, consider adding in a spot treatment for acne after you finish cleansing your skin each night.
Keep a record of all of the products that you have tried and the effects that those products have had on your skin. Write down your experiences in a notebook. You can quickly narrow your choices down by scratching out the poor performing contenders. Knowing what you have tried and how good it works is probably your best ally. More importantly you might see trends emerging. If exfoliates are to abrasive the you will need to find a skin renewal product that isn't as rough. Now lets say you that all of the cleansers you've tried severely irritated your skin, then you would look for a line that caters to sensitive skin.
You'll find so many ways to know which products are the best for you. Don't be afraid to experiment with your skin care. It won't take long to find something you like and that works well.
