Learning to play piano by ear will make great things happen in your life. You will be invited to accompany more singers at functions at your church. You will get begin to get more gigs or jobs in local bands. You will be making more money for you and your family. But before this happens, you will have to put in the work necessary to get to this point. You will need to know and learn the different skills and techniques in music to make you successful. In learning to play piano by ear, you will need to have what is called perfect pitch or develop relative pitch.
Some of us are born with perfect pitch. Perfect pitch is the ability to hear a note or tone and name it. Most piano players that started at a very young age has this ability. If you started music later in life, you will develop,what is called relative pitch. Relative pitch is the ability to identify a note or tone by relating it to another note or tone.
When you are learning to play the piano by ear, you will be learning many new skills. Here are some of the skills you will know.

You will learn how to identify all of the most common chords by name.

You will be able to name notes by their correct names.

You will have more fun playing the piano.
In order to play music by ear, you must train your ears to hear the different types of scales, triads, arpeggios, and intervals in music.
Scales- Their are 12 major scales. They play a major role in the principles and techniques used in ear training. Here are the 12 major scales and their minor counter parts.
C Major---------A Minor
F Major---------D Minor
Bb Major--------G Minor
Eb Major--------C Minor
Ab Major--------F Minor
Db Major-------Bb Minor
F# Major--------D#Minor
B Major---------G#Minor
E Major---------C#Minor
A Major---------F#Minor
D Major---------B Minor
G Major---------E Minor
Arpeggio- An arpeggio is a group of notes that are played one after another.
C Major Arpeggio-C-E-G-
Triads- is a set of related notes that are played at the same time.
C Major triads---C-E-G
