Going green seems to be the latest catch phrase that has ebbed its way into our collective social psyche. From the many cities throughout the country now offering pick-up services for recyclables to automobiles that run on electricity or natural products, individuals are bombarded with the necessity to be more eco-conscious. Some may wonder if this is just another political fad or ingenious plot by advertisers to prompt consumers to throw out the old and buy new environmentally friendly products. Although certain extremes could exist, using natural, toxin-free items can improve people's health and surroundings. For instance, green steam mops are now available to the average consumer in various designs, from the simple and straightforward to the more advanced and sophisticated models. A steam floor cleaner proves to be a successful way to sanitize hard surface floors without harsh chemicals. Working hard to lift up residue and grime, green steam mops actually kill germs and do a much more thorough job than the standard mop and bucket. Even though other equipment has been invented to replace the mop, they usually require disposable pads to be purchased frequently, or they leave a film behind.
Green Floors
Even flooring has benefited from the big trend in fast harvesting materials that don't require a long time to replenish. This latest movement for floor manufacturers is known as renewable flooring and comes in several varieties. Although they are all natural, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, they are not all the same. Bamboo flooring is elegant, versatile, very durable, stable, anti-microbial, and water resistant. Natural linoleum consists of linseed, cork, tree rosin, limestone, and jute. It is biodegradable and very easy to maintain. Directly from the bark of the Cork Oak tree, Cork flooring is layered with no volatile organic compounds (VOC) and doesn't contain any additional urea formaldehyde adhesives. Green steam mops work great on renewable floors since they also use natural processes to remove dirt and grime.
Green Household Products
Most available retail soaps contain high levels of chemicals and ingredients that the average person has never heard of before. Luckily, organic soaps have become very common and aid many common skin problems. As these products are composed of ingredients that have been produced without using herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides, organic soap can actually repair damaged skin. Since it is the body's largest organ, skin can absorb nutrients. Showering and bathing with an eco-friendly soap infused with valuable vitamins and minerals will allow skin to absorb all of the soap's benefits.
Another environmentally sound product that has gained recognition is the dryer ball. It gives clothes the unique, natural feel and smell of being dried outside on a clothesline. Because there are no overpowering toxic chemical smells or slimy chemical residues left behind, clothes will smell like fresh air. Even though dryer balls contain no harsh chemicals like dryer sheets and fabric softeners, they still are able to successfully produce soft clothing without static cling.
Installing energy efficient washing machines and dishwashers is another easy way to lessen the harmful impact we have on the planet. Replacing old units with energy saving versions reduces CO2 emissions, which is the biggest contributor to human-induced global warming. Smog emissions (nitrous oxides and sulfur dioxide) are also lessened since older models of household appliances use energy made from fossil fuels.
In addition to cleansing solutions and steam floor cleaners, purchasing products made completely out of recycled materials contributes to a healthier environment. Items like paper or jewelry are typically easy to find in 100% recycled versions. For other products, such as motor oil or construction steel, finding entirely recycled options is difficult. However, partially recycled alternatives are usually fairly easy to come across.
Green Steam Mops
The steam floor cleaner provides the ideal way to clean healthier while simultaneously helping the environment by not emitting harmful toxins into the air. Green steam mops are lightweight, easy to use, and eliminate germs and bacteria. With little effort, these machines dissolve dirt and grime that appears deeply ground and embedded into the floor. Packaged with reusable cleaning pads, the only thing that must be added to the steam floor cleaner is water. Although pads come with the green steam mop, renewable pads, organic cotton towels, or even bamboo towels can also be used for the cleaning pad.
Armed with just a few helpful hints about green cleansing alternatives, finding a safer, more eco-friendly method to clean up around the house will prove a simple task.
