Sharice was born in Yonkers, New York, with a natural talent inherited from her father, Carl Davis, a member of Dixie Hummingbirds, Grammy Award winners. She learned from the best as she traveled with her father throughout his career. She started singing in church and performing in Yonkers. Then, using her determination and drive, Sharice decided to follow her passion and began doing session work with various signed artists like Jam Master Jay and DMX, as well as having her songs recorded by major-label artists.

After turning down her own recording contract, she went to Virginia where she formed her own band called Sharice's Pieces, and created "One Mic Thursdays." After returning to New York, she joined EMI songwriter Shirazi to work on some tracks produced by 7 Aurelius, who has produced tracks for Jennifer Lopez, Ja Rule, and Ashanti. The combined effort of the three produced the hit, "Plug the Plug."
