Top Ten Health Care Myths: Part 3 of 3
Brought to you by Dr. Aaron Cain, Calgary Chiropractor. Fish Creek Chiropractic.
Diet as cause and Diet as solution for Type 2 Diabetes
New research presented at the Endocrine Society's 92nd Annual Meeting, held this year (July, 2010) in San Diego, shows that natural antioxidants in the diet can be a powerful way to improve insulin resistance -- even in people who are obese and suffering from metabolic syndrome. Dietary antioxidants include Vitamins E and C, Selenium and Beta-Carotene.
Myth #10 - Medicine is scientific We alluded to this earlier. Not only is there little science or scientific about medicine, the whole system is outdated, ineffective and is, today, causing much harm as one of the leading causes of illness, hospitalization and death. An example of this is medicine fails to acknowledge the mind-body connection and foolishly believes the mind plays virtually no role in healing. The whole approach of "treat the symptoms and forget the causes" approach to health care really is in need of a major change...a revolutionary shift.
A shift we have been promoting for years!!!
Staying healthy isn't as difficult as you think, and it doesn't require health insurance or disease screening. It only requires making informed, intelligent decisions about what to eat, what to put on your skin and how to get more sunshine and physical exercise. Once you do these basic things, you'll find that you are no longer held victim by a western medicine health care system based on lies and outdated medical mythology.
BONUS Myth #11 - Genetics is to blame for all breast cancer Previously we reported on how what we eat can affect the health of our children and their children as well. The same research explained why some people are more likely to develop certain degenerative diseases.
The actual research, conducted by Sonia de Assis of Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington DC and colleagues had discovered that the daughters of pregnant rats fed an unhealthy diet are more likely to develop breast cancer. Now they have shown that even if these daughters eat healthily, their offspring are still at greater risk of disease. Based on that, "We think that there may be other means of transmission that are not genetic that can account for breast cancer," explained de Assis.
According to Breastcancer.org, only about 20-30% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have any family history of it. This means that the other 70-80% must be developing it for reasons other than simply genetics. If a person's parents or grandparents ate a diet rich in processed, chemical-laden foods throughout their lives, then the DNA changes that likely occurred in their bodies may be passed down to their children. Even if they themselves didn't develop cancer, the children will be more likely to develop it, based on the findings of the study.
Fast food is easy for you today. What price will you and your family pay in the future?
So there it is---lifestyle and its affect on health. If your children eat junk food diets that lack proper nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and other necessary life components, then their children will be even more prone than they were to develop degenerative diseases like cancer. Even if your parents and grandparents ate unhealthy diets all their lives does not mean that you have to get sick. Eating a strong, healthy diet and regularly exercising will do wonders for your health.
The VERY SIMPLE Role of the Nerve System in Health Control centers for the function of every tissue cell and organ in your body are in the brain. The control centers communicate with the tissue cells and organs via the spinal cord and spinal nerves. Disrupt the communication between the control centers of the brain and the tissue cells and organs and the body can no longer function normally.
Since completing his studies, Dr. Cain has enjoyed working with a wide variety of people from all ages and backgrounds. He looks forward to meeting more of the residents of Calgary and working with them, from pain relief...to wellness. http://FishcreekChiropractic.ca
