Joint Pain Relief through Home Remedies

A person can be afflicted with joint pain in one or more places in the body. It's caused by various types of conditions and injuries, but no matter what the cause is, joint pain is really troublesome for the sufferers. Home remedies can greatly alleviate their condition.
Osteoarthritis occurs more frequently in people over the age of forty-five and is the most common cause of joint pain. Vitamin E promotes the positive effect of vitamin C in relieving osteoarthritis pain and preserving the health of joints. The recommended daily dose is 400 IU.
Maintaining a diet rich in fiber also prevents and reduces joint pain brought about by osteoarthritis. Because fiber fills you up on fewer calories, you're less likely to overeat and cause weight gain, which is known to pose difficulties for people with osteoarthritis. Additionally, fiber helps in eliminating the toxins which promote arthritis.
You can try adding Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate crystals) to bathwater to provide extra comfort for arthritis pain. Magnesium sulfate helps the body excrete carbon through the skin.
Exercise can also help eliminate joint pain, but be careful if your joint pains extend an hour after your last exercise session, as it has probably worsened your osteoarthritis. It's preferable that you cut back on your exercise and work up to increasing your amount of exercise gradually.
For non-arthritis joint pain, the recommended home remedies are frequent warm baths, massage, and stretching exercises. For example, stretching exercises are best if you are affected by bursitis, wherein the fluid sacs in your joints are inflamed.
Another example is the cat stretch, which is good for relieving stiff shoulder joints. This motion is done by getting down on hands and knees and putting your hands slightly in front of your head. This is followed by stretching backward up to your heels, meanwhile keeping the elbows in a fixed position. Another effective stretching technique you can try is to stand facing a wall and crawl your fingers up the wall. You will know that you are doing it right if you can try to get your armpit in the corner.
Joint pain due to bursitis may also be treated with a castor oil pack when the pain is not acute anymore. To make this particular remedy, spread castor oil over your afflicted joint then put cotton or wool flannel over it and apply a heating pad. Apply ice if a bursitic joint is hot, and let it rest for 10 minutes after applying ice for 10 minutes also.
An alternative remedy that can accelerate joint pain relief in bursitis cases when used with standard treatments is homemade balm made from a paste of water and turmeric powder. Apply the balm once or twice a day.
Flaxseed oil can be used in bursitis joint pains. Add one or two tablespoons of flaxseed oil to your salad.
However, if your joint pain lasts more than three days, it's probably better if you don't rely on treating it yourself with home remedies. It is therefore best to consult a medical professional.
