Keep in mind that more make-up is also going to mean more expense and the more elaborate it is, the more difficult it is going to be to make it look right.

To help with an authentic look, the place to spend a little extra money is in accessories. For example, you can buy the right communicator, weapons or badges to fit your particular character. Even if your uniform is not exact, the right phaser is going to more than make up for that.

Props can also be added to fit with your favorite movie scene or television episode. Fans of the original series, for example, can make their own tribbles. Little touches like these will really make your costume noticeable.
