What are niche directories? They're simply directories that concentrate one subject or area. The inherent advantage is, because the link to your site comes from a directory directly related to your industry, they're usually worth more than links from regular directories. That makes them worth spending time on during your link campaign.

So what exactly do we mean when we say niche directories? Let's take me for instance.

Industry/Professional Directory Links

In my case there are more than a few directories that list Search Engine Optimization companies and consultants. That's all they contain. They're some of the biggest online collections of geeks outside of the Babylon 5 forums.

There are other directories that are purely made up of real estate resources and professionals. Now, stop for a second and consider your possible areas. There might be more than one. For instance, let's imagine that you're a Dentist. You might think that the only available outlets for you are directories for Dental services. But you'd be wrong.

Directories That Might Not Be So Obvious

Think about other factors that define you and your business. Where are you located? If you're in Los Angeles, you've got some options. I haven't looked into it myself, but I'd bet my last dollar, and the nickel I won guessing some guy's weight, that there are plenty of directories focusing on LA businesses.

But it doesn't end there. What about directories for California businesses? Or Southern California? We're still not done, by the way.

Are you a Christian? Then you have options there, too. I've seen online resources that list businesses run by, or for, Christians. How they confirm that you're actually a follower of Christ is beyond me. There are certainly directories that cater to other faiths as well. Just look around.

The point is to consider different angles are you a woman? Many resources out there will gladly put you in their listings. If you won't be a woman completely until that procedure next month, wait till then to submit, though.

The important thing to remember is that these specialized directories are out there and they're taking submissions. And they're probably worth the money. Now go get some of those links.
