Aquariums have been around for decades and in Old England, the royalty kept aquariums as a real luxury and a symbol of wealth. Obviously back then, aquarium tanks were very rudimentary and their knowledge of tropical fish limited. Today, home aquariums are as easy as 1-2-3 to set up and even maintain and even if you have no previous experience, you can do it. There are many great uses for having an aquarium tank, but here are just 3 ideas.
- Pets
Fish make great pets. Why? Well, they are beautiful to look at and require very little attention. Anyone family that is stuck for space or who just can't bear the work involved with a dog or a cat can opt for a fish tank. Kids love it and it's a perfect way to teach them how to care for a pet. A fish tank can be relatively cheap to set up although some more exotic fish types can be expensive. Its recommended that you start with a smaller tank and as your love for the hobby grows, get a bigger and better tank.
- Furniture And Decoration
Having a fish tank in your home can really liven up the place unlike any other piece of furniture or display. Its "alive" and the activity and bright colors can give life to even the dullest rooms. Many doctors keep fish tanks in their reception to help create a tranquil environment and if you have a room that's in dire need of some life, then an aquarium tank might just do the job. Its well worth shopping around as there are some amazing new tanks that are essentially fish tanks built into furniture..
- Hobby
Keeping and breeding fish is a fascinating hobby. For those who are more serious about it, its become an art and for those top breeders the rewards are much more than mere high priced fish. There is a real skill and an art to keeping and breeding rare fish and if you have the guts to do it, you can start your own reef tank and breed saltwater species. These are some of the most impressive fish and some of these tanks are truly amazing. Be warned though - one this bug bites you it doesn't let go.
