The term detoxification is used widely to explain various processes used to rid the body of unwanted substances. It is a continuous process of neutralizing and eliminating toxins from the tissues and organs of the body. Natural detoxification is done by the liver which filters chemicals, toxins and metabolites from the blood stream and takes them to other organs for excretion.
The process takes place perpetually inside the body on a day to day basis. There is a high amount of potentially harmful chemicals entering our bodies on a daily basis. It is estimated there are over 10, 000 chemicals present in food substances from the point of growth to processing to the time it reaches your dinner table.
This accumulation of toxins becomes an extra load to the liver. When it is unable to effectively deal with the amount of circulating toxins, they circulate in the blood stream causing disruption and damage along their path. Some of these unwanted compounds end up being stored in fat cell on body organs and tissue. They can stay here for months or even years at a time.
The accumulation of these toxins in the body leads to all sorts of acute, chronic and degenerative conditions in the body.
