Homeowners can enhance home protection by incorporating self defense products and other safety items into their daily lives. Residents will be protected from intruders and also from safety hazards that exist within and around the area. Safety products are available for the home and its occupants, no matter their age, including the beloved pets, and these make great gifts.
Child safety takes high priority in the minds of parents and adults often purchase pepper spray, stun guns, and other self defense products for children headed off to college. However, what about the little ones who are not yet old enough to protect themselves? There are even more dangers lurking that they can fall victim to and they may not come at the hands of an attacker.
Homeowners who have swimming pools and children should consider installing a pool alarm system for home protection. Each year, over 900 children ages one to 14 die due to drowning, so the pool presents a real danger. A pool alarm uses electronic monitoring and sounds an alarm when a child or a pet falls into the pool. The arm sounds both at the unit and at a remote receiver located inside the home.
Pool alarm units are lightweight, portable, self contained, and they are also simple to install. The unit itself rests on the deck of the pool and once it is installed, it cannot be deactivated. The remote receiver can be located a maximum of 200 feet away from the main unit. A nine-volt battery powers the alarm and the remote receiver is powered by a 12-volt power supply. When the alarm battery is low, an audible indicator sounds at the alarm and remote receiver.
Safety lights are self defense products that can be mounted to a child’s bicycle for use at night. These emit a super bright beam of light and some of them have a flashing feature that will surely catch a suspicious person off-guard. Older children can use a cell phone flashlight that mounts to their phone or backpack. This compact product is inconspicuous but will emit a bright light when activated by a frightened child.
Self defense products do not leave out the pets, as blinking pet safety lights are sold. These attach to the animal’s harness, leash, or collar so when the pet is out at night, it can be seen. Cats that go outdoors will be protected from being hit by cars and dogs that dig holes to get out of the yard will have a blinking light to alert automobiles and pedestrians that they are on the move. Not only does this product provide safety, it makes it much easier for the pet owner to find the animal.
These are a sampling of the many self defense products and home protection items available for sale. Each of these is very inexpensive and some items come in various sizes and styles, making them both affordable and attractive. Every adult should make protecting the home and its human and animal occupants from harm a top priority.
