To protect your child from any harm, proper winter wear is needed during cold season. Like all other seasons, winter season gives children especially toddlers a wide grin on their faces as they start to think about the outdoor activities they can do while winter is around. However, too much stay in freezing temperature would definitely harm your child and make them prone to diseases acquired from too much cold temperature such as frostbite and hypothermia. But how well are parents informed about these two and what can they do about it?
Our body’s normal level of temperature is between the ranges of 36.5 to 37 degrees Celsius. Hypothermia has something to do with the temperature level of our body. Hypothermia is characterized by too much shivering, confusion, and hypertension, sluggish in thinking, difficulty in speaking and wearisome-looking; this therefore must be the symptoms that you have to observe when your child is outdoor playing with snow balls and making snow men and angels! Besides mittens and gloves nice warm and dry blanket that’s soft and comforting should be wrapped around the whole body of your toddler to keep him or her warm. You can also give your child a hug that is actually a perfect thing to do since it allows heat transfer from one body to another through skin contact.
Meanwhile, frostbite is a more serious condition. Frostbite could lead injury to your toddler since it basically hits the extremities of the body such as the hands and feet that is farthest from the heart. Children who play outside during winter with snow and ice could suffer from this. It usually starts with an itchy feel, pain while the skin hardens; muscle hardens while tendons and blood vessels may not be able to circulate blood. Frostbite and hypothermia however may be preventable. The good news is proper winter clothing can actually save you from all the hassle of panicking and stress whenever your child experience coldness. Winter clothing accessories such as toddler gloves, infant mittens, winter hats and beanies protect your toddler or infant from the harsh winter cold. It keeps their bodies warm and helps the body retain heat as it tries very much to build up the normal body temperature against the cold weather.
Toddler winter hats and beanies protect the head as well as the ears. When these areas are protected headache and other mental functions such as thinking and speaking will not be affected. Beanies and hats are very affordable to buy and they vary depending on the design and style. Most beanies are made of fleece. This is the ideal material. Beanies may also be hand-knitted--- the likes of this are special since hand-knit is needs effort and skill to accomplish. On the other hand winter hats may be available in fleece and wool material. They have different designs such as some have flaps to cover the ears. It’s a good thing to know that there are readily available winter gears for toddlers and infants to protect them from hypothermia and frostbite.
