It was a huge family moment and victory when we finally got Big J to sleep for 4 straight hours. We were new parents. It was already time for Jonathan to take us on another adventure. He didn't pick this one. We were in Colorado and decided to hit Vegas then travel on to California to see family. Our first stop was Las Vegas.
At this time, our little one was almost 2 months old. He was not Vegas ready. We were so off we went. The trip to Nevada was pretty uneventful. We stayed at Circus Circus and walked the streets. The folks that try to give you cards to see the other sites didn't bother the family with the baby. However, the normal tourists did. We happened to be out walking right as one of the hotel events were taking place. There was no room for a baby in a stroller. In Vegas, 1 out of every 25 people sympathized with our plight. They would not let us through. We were officially stuck for a good 30 minutes. A few of the friendly local smokers went out of their way to blow smoke in Jonathan's face. These are people that were lucky that Dad did not see this happen.
With that, we decided to drive on to sunny CA. We were driving along and all was well. Then, little Jonathan bore his head with his own plan. He started to cry real hard but would not open his eyes. Me and Mom didn't really know what to do. I wasn't worried too much but the Mrs. was in a frantic. We stopped at the town of Baker at a 7-11. Still unsure what to do, we called 911. I will say that the Baker paramedics responded very quickly on that day. The paramedics arrived and my wife stated " the baby won't open his eyes." Without hesitation, one of the paramedics asked us if this was our first baby. We didn't want to lie so we said yes. He looked back at us and said the baby is fine. He is just real tired. We made him prove it. He opened the Jonathan's eyes up. Jonathan looked up and said that he was tired. He also stated that he wanted a little bit of breastmilk before he resumed his nap. Stay tuned.
