Health and fitness can only come from within you. You must decide that your body is important enough to you, and then take care of it. You must decide that you want to be able to move better, be thinner, have lower blood pressure, ensure better cholesterol, maintain more muscle, feel younger, and live longer. You must decide that you want to be around long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor, your children, and your grandchildren. You must decide that you want to have the health to travel, to be active, to laugh. You must decide that you aren’t any longer going to treat your body like a traveling circus. You must decide that as you age, you don’t want to sign up for four hours of routine angioplasty every five years! You must decide! Not your spouse, kids, parents, minister, favorite bald Texan talk-show host, plastic surgeon, psychic Ms. Cleo from St. Croix, or fourth-grade teacher. It’s up to you!
Once you have truly decided that your health and fitness is your responsibility, I’ll teach you how you can achieve your results. I’ll show you how to combine exercise and nutrition to achieve your goals. I’ll show you how you can lower your body fat, weight, LDL (bad) cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides, C-reactive protein, and blood sugar levels. I’ll also show you how you can increase your strength, lean muscle tissue, HDL (good) cholesterol, flexibility, endurance, and energy level. Yes, even your sexual stamina will increase and you’ll be as frisky as a sea otter in mating season, but this is not that type of book!
These great benefits can all be yours, but they will NOT come by magic. You must train for, earn, and deserve these rewards. It will take time, energy, and psychological commitment. It is well within your capabilities, but you must become CONSISTENT! You will need to become more disciplined and determined than you have been in years. You will no longer be able to live like the Eagles song, "Life in the Fast Lane" Your days of living the lazy, fat, fast food, instant gratification, and American lifestyle are not completely over, but they will have to be limited. How much time will you need to dedicate to this type of program you ask? Approximately three hours a week or 1.6 percent of the entire week. Is 1.6 percent of the week too much time to commit to your body?
