Most experts will tell you how to lose weight. They will give you detailed exercises to do and will provide you a list of foods that are considered healthy. They will give you lots of pep talk, too. Out of consideration for your own comfort, they will always tell you that it's all right to go easy on yourself once in a while and give in to that delicious treat.
But here's the rub: Losing weight isn't a walk in the park. And it's not supposed to be easy. You're trying to undo a mistake and that takes a lot of time, effort and discipline on your part. Rewarding yourself with a sweet treat might keep you on track with your exercise and dietary goals, but never forget the fact that they are part of the reason why you are in such a bind right now. If you want to hasten the process towards a more shapely figure, then you've got to be tough on yourself and ban (yes ban!) these evil things from your diet. These two foods to avoid are non-negotiable, even as treats. Say goodbye to them forever and expect to lose the weight and stay healthy for life. Ready? Here goes:
- Junk Drinks
Soda, sugared beverages and alcohol tops the list. Soda is one of the culprits behind our never-ending battle with obesity and its corresponding health risks like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers. High fructose corn syrup, its main ingredient, is a very simple sugar that makes you gain weight fast. It doesn't register satiety too, such that you just want to keep on drinking can after can. The more you drink soda and other sweetened beverages, the more prone you are to eating greasy fare and other junk food. This has been proven in studies and while the multibillion soda industry will do all it can to dissuade you otherwise, drinking more of their product will not make you look like the celebrities they pay to endorse their product.
Alcohol is another drink you should strive to avoid at all costs. Not only does it contain twice as much calories as fatty foods, too much also leads to a host of other health, psychological and legal problems. Alcoholism has been linked to the development of cirrhosis, addiction that requires psychiatric treatment and that DUI ticket that only serves to mar an otherwise reputable record.
- Junk Food
Salted chips and greasy fastfood offerings rule the day here. Those potato chips, corn chips, cheese rings and all sorts of other chips that come in different shapes and sizes are chockfull of sodium that causes your body to retain water. The MSG content in these junk have also been linked to the development of various diseases. That greasy burger and those French fries are also full of empty calories that will not help you win the battle against fat. They're also high in salt content that makes you accumulate water and bloat. And just in case you're interested, it might surprise you to learn that their patty isn't just made of beef. There are a list of other synthetic ingredients and preservatives there, too, to keep them from spoiling.
These are the top two foods to avoid if you want to stay healthy and lean. Never give in to cravings they give.
