In this article we show what lighting trends to expect in 2011, and uncover why they are going to be so popular now that we have entered a New Year.
-
Pendant Lighting – This is a popular way that many homeowners choose to adopt as a way of making their ceiling lights a focal point in any room throughout their household. Generally these will be used in Kitchens and will be situated over a dining table, an island, peninsula or nearby breakfast bar, although the size of the room and the height of the ceiling will be overall contributing factor, when deciding where your pendant lighting will be best situated. Odd numbers are usually the most commonly adopted application of the island and they will be certain to bring bright lights and glamour to any room throughout your home.
-
Small Chandeliers – are small beaded chandeliers that are actually lamps rather than the ceiling lights that you would usually expect a chandelier to be. These are different to the pendant lighting as they are not intended to be the focal point of the room, however the hanging glass beads can completely transform the look and feel of a room. These stylish lights can fit in to a variety of places and would probably be most popular in a living room or study, and a few spread out around a room will completely transform the atmosphere of the room.
-
Deep Metal Colours – the deep metal tones and brushed metal surfaces are becoming ever popular as we enter the New Year as they give off a classic and trendy appeal that many homeowners and designers are choosing to implement in to their homes. As long as your lights still have an elegance to them to balance their rustic look, they will go perfectly in any room in your house and will look extremely trendy.
-
Track Lights – Track lights have always been a popular choice among homeowners, however, we expect to see this popularity increase even further in 2011. They seem to be ever popular due to their unique style and versatility, enabling you to pinpoint the areas of any room which you feel need brightening up. We also have reason to believe that hidden track lights will rise in popularity, with dimmed and shaded lighting looking to be the most popular styles in 2011.
-
Sconces – These lights are popular in households which have a limited amount space. These are also increasingly popular as you can play and tweak the space, colour and lighting effects when it comes to the popular sconces lights. They come in a variety of contemporary, traditional, retro and vintage designs, which make them appealing to all homeowners who are looking to rejuvenate their living quarters.
-
Eco-friendly Lights – With continuing innovation and initiatives in sustainability, we also expect to see a surge in the amount of eco-friendly lights used in the UK. People will look for other alternatives to things such as Xenon Lights in a bid to become eco-friendly and reduce their own CO2 emissions. We also expect it to rise in homeowners bid to reduce their electricity bills and save a bit of their hard earned cash.
