Ok, Playa de las Americas is typically more prone to have a wide range of McDonalds and Burger King's than any displays of ancient culture, but in this modern facade, there is still plenty to see and do to let you explore the history the resort. If you are just looking for a typical beach holiday, you'll be in luck. There are many beautiful expanse of sand to sit back and relax in, with white sand and turquoise water I can think of worse ways to pass the time!
