There are several versions about the origin of coffee; some suggest that emerged in Asia, others in Europe. But the most credible and accepted by everyone is pointing to an African origin in ancient Abyssinia is now known as Ethiopia. The African tribes who knew coffee, distributed coffee to their troops as they saw the invigorating effect it had.
Studies indicate that coffee was not domesticated until the fifteenth century, it was when it was first used as a beverage. Thanks to new archaeological discoveries is estimated that coffee as a beverage was first consumed in the twelfth century in Arabia.
COFFEE EXPANSION
The expansion of coffee as a beverage was initiated by a German named Leonard Randolf who made the first description of the drink in a book published in 1583: "A beverage as black as ink, useful against numerous ailments, particularly stomach ailments. Its consumers take it in the morning, in a porcelain cup that passes from one to another and each one takes a full glass. It consists of water and the fruit of a shrub called bunny. "
Thanks to this description that caught the attention of merchants, it entered the European market. At first it was rejected by the Protestants but did not take rejection and it didn’t create the controversy that came to cause snuff.
COFFEE IN SOCIETY
Cafeterias became liberal places where intellectuals gathered.King Charles II of England ordered the closure of all cafes, indicating that in those places were conspiring against the crown.The rejection of the order made the King to revoke the edict.
In 1689 the coffee came to America, the first store was in Boston. The beverage was so well received that it was named a national drink. Coffee has evolved incredibly, from the way of preparation for different kinds of coffee. Before it was impossible to imagine that coffee would come in capsules, such as an espresso capsules, they offer a unique preparation, which is economic and sophisticated.
Coffee has a history that is linked to the evolution of contemporary society, today one of
