Whether, starting college for the first time, or returning back to college after years away, the cost of college can be a big issue. A new or returning student has to consider the cost of tuition, transportation, room and board, and textbooks. Financial aid, loans, scholarships and grants, may help students out with the cost of tuition and room and board, but oftentimes, the cost of buying textbooks is an enormous expense.
Many times, a student will only use the book for one class and never look at it again. The student will then have the option of selling it back to the store where they purchased it for a nominal price. Many students are now looking into textbook rental. Much like renting movies, textbook rental allows students to rent books for a small fee, and return them after they are done using them. Using a textbook rental service allows a student to use the books that they need for their class, for a fraction of the cost.
Often, it is much cheaper for a person to rent all of the textbooks they need, instead of buying just one book at shelf cost. Another benefit for a student to rent books, instead of purchasing them, is that they will not have to pay a storage fee or find a place to store them after they are done using them. Textbook rental acts in a way as a college bookstore buyback program. Where the college bookstore may buy the used books back from a student who no longer needs them, often the student will only get a small percentage of the cost that they originally paid.
Textbook rental is a service that caters to struggling students, and to people who wish to get rid of the textbooks they have lying around. An individual who has old books from their college days, have a few options to get rid of them. They may opt to sell them at a yard sale, give them to students they know, donate them to a library, or sell them to a textbook renting service. Out of all of these options, choosing to sell them to a textbook renting service will provide the best option for students to make some extra money. Whether wanting to use a rental service to rent, or to sell old books, a textbook rental service provides a good option for many people.
