One thing that many people overlook are coats. You will want one as the weather can be unpredictable. In addition to warm clothing, bring summer attire as the temperature is always changing there. A typical day there can begin with sour skies that are mostly gone once the afternoon rolls around. Bring a coat with you everywhere just in case you have a day that starts off with poor conditions, but don't be disappointed as the sun generally prevails by the end of the day. You may want to bring a scarf with you also as the city can get windy.
A fun place to drive to is to Pacific Heights which is along Divisadero Street. The destination has awesome views of the bay and is surrounded by very costly real estate. Pacific Heights is home to residences that are worth upwards of 10 million dollars. San Francisco has many beautiful homes. Similar to those found in Pacific Heights, the Marina is also a place of interest.
The Marina hosts the Palace of Fine Arts. You will be able to park and enjoy the scenery of the lake, have a picnic, or feed bread to the ducks. The Palace is a beautiful building that was built for the 1915 Panama - Pacific Exposition and is a place you will want to go to with your camera.
A very popular attraction in San Francisco is Fisherman's Wharf. The Wharf hosts old ships and restaurants that give you a taste of the sea, likely to not be forgotten.
Close by is Embarcadero which is another location that has breath-taking views of the bay. If you choose a good day, you may be able to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, and the famous Alcatraz Island Prison. The Embarcadero itself is known for the famous Ferry Building. Inside are shops and unique boutiques where you are sure to find a great souvenir and maybe grab a bite to eat. The range of food is wide from fresh oysters, cheeses from all over the world, and cultural foods, you won't be disappointed with the selection.
If you continue along the Embarcadero, you may end up reaching the stadium where the San Francisco Giants play their home games. You will have the opportunity to get close enough to the park to be able to see the inside of the stadium, and if you visit at the right time and plan in advance, maybe see a game in real life. San Francisco is a lively and exciting city to be in with all the hills, sites, history, and entertainment, it is a trip that will always be remembered.
