Bedsores are also known as pressure sores, pressure ulcers and these are basically skin wounds and generally form in those areas where a person can have the least padding of muscle and fat. These wounds arise by the pressure on the skin in contact with a bed or wheelchair and they are mighty painful. They take long time to heal and are often considered as preordination of life-threatening complications like by that you can have infection in skin and bone.

Most common body parts where people face bedsores are tailbone, shoulder blades, hips, heals and elbows. Total Immobility in human body is the main reason which can be given for the Bedsores. Generally our body parts keep moving all day no matter whether we are sleeping or sitting in front of computer in office. While sleeping we keep moving sleeping positions. Blood Circulation in compressed area is impeded when blood flow stops or slows down. When the tissue deprived by oxygen and certain required nutrients in that case skin can die in a half day time just.

There are two other causes of bedsores; Sheer and friction. Shear occurs when the movement of skin and underlying bone moves in opposite direction from one another. Slowly slumping down in a bed or chair can cause your skin to stretch and tear. Friction also has the same function and it causes skin to degrade. One should adopt the habit of frequent change in positioning. Even if you are rubbing constantly then it can also break your skin.

Prevention:

As bedsores have the two different levels of disease stage 1 and stage 2. If you are having stage 1 bedsores problem then it will be disappeared by just adopting the repositioning is prompt continuously. A physician can help you by issuing written orders and this will be the guideline for nursing home staff. In stage 2 there would be a wound on the skin and to stop this wound multi disciplinary approach should be adopted. A person can require the whole medical staff like nurses, the aides, and physical therapist and a social worker to take proper care. The alternative of all these is a single nursing home. You will found the entire staff there. Bedsores can be prevented by changing of bed and changing the sleeping position, Change in cushioning and change of clothing may be also effective. Nursing homes are useful in the sense that they will provide you the healthy nutrition and improved nutrition can aid healing. Debridement is known as the process of removal of damaged tissue and it is an important step of presenting bedsores. Dressings are also helpful in speed healing and protect the wound. It is important to keep surrounding skin dry and the wound moist. In a nursing homes you can get all that.
