Almost everyone suffers from minor pains due to micro injuries in his or her daily life. But sometimes, the injuries do not remain minor; in fact, they are major ones which require immediate treatment. Cartilage injuries are quite common problems that most of the people suffer from. The scientists have found out several ways of cartilage restoration techniques, using which could help patients to recover from the pains that they have to experience. When these techniques were first conducted, the results were average, but with their continuous practice, their performance optimization aspect has become a significant reason behind so many patients opting for these techniques.
With its gristle-like structure, cartilage covers the point where the bones of two regions come in contact with each other. It is completely white in color. Being a significant support to the nose, ears, ribs and several joints, these elastic tissues form an integral part of the biological environment. Playing such an effective role in making the co-ordination between the bones successful, it becomes very important to protect these cartilages from damages. If still it is injured, cartilage restoration surgery should be considered. The three largest joints of the human body which get most of the support from the cartilages are knee, hip and shoulder. Thus, cartilage restoration techniques are of maximum help for these three regions of the body.
Cartilage damage is the initial stage of osteoarthritis. When the damages of the cartilages are not treated for a long time, they lead to arthritic pains of joints at later stages. Thus, to avoid any such harsh consequences, it is better to opt for cartilage restoration surgery. There are several terms that are used to describe the various painful conditions of the cartilage based on which the technique for treatment is ultimately decided. Some of the terms include acute damage, chronic degeneration, chondromalacia, osteochondritis dissicans, etc. Once the patient is diagnosed and the condition from which he belongs is identified, the proper technique for his cartilage restoration treatment is decided.
As far as the procedures used for proper cartilage restoration is concerned, these torn elastic tissues can be treated through two below-mentioned techniques:
Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI): A cartilage cannot repair itself if it gets damaged. This cartilage restoration process is used to create a fresh and healthy tissue to substitute the previous injured ones. With the help of arthroscopy, the healthy cartilage cells are extracted from the body of the patient itself and the same are used to make new ones called chondrocytes. Three to four weeks is the time taken to conduct the entire process.
Arthroscopic surgery: In this case of cartilage restoration, the damaged tissues are taken and sewed back together.
Once the whole process is complete, you should take assistance from your therapist and then get back to your daily activities, thereby keeping in mind the precautions that he wants you to take for proper performance optimization. A sound health is the foundation of every good thing that you are up to. Thus, you must ensure a healthy life for yourself and practice all the relevant medical techniques without being ignorant.
