The pizzas and burgers top the wish list of every folk when it comes to food. It is apparently known that junk food causes many diseases and make you lose energy but this could come to you as a surprise, if I say, ‘there is a close relation between your diet and dental health’. Yes, there is a direct link between what you eat and your teeth, especially the sweets.
Sugar does not only contribute to increase your body weight but affects your teeth too. I happened to visit the American South last month. A Baton Rouge dentist told me there that the first and most important preventive measure that dentists suggest their patients is to cut down the sugar levels in their meal. People are actually very fond of having cakes, cookies and puddings. It is possible to curb the junk food habit of a person but asking him to stop eating sweets is like belling the cat.
This article is going to help you understand how and which sweet items add to tooth related issues. Sugar is injurious to your dental health, no matter, in what form you take it in. by sugar here, I do not mean the sugar thing only, but it includes many food items too that contain sugar content. For instance, soft drinks are equally responsible to affect your gums and jaw, since it contains a significant amount of sugar.
Except all sugars, there are chocolates, toffees, biscuits, peppermint sweets and not to forget cereals also carry the same sugar content that is not advisable to take in excessively. The sweet content in your food causes bacterial action that result in plaque. You may not know but every candy you take in carries as much as ten spoons of sugar.
Dentists do not ask for deleting the sugar from your daily diet but they ask you to reduce it. Deleting completely may lead to loss of energy that is not good for anybody’s health. By decreasing sweets, you can not only save your health but your gums too. It saves you from tooth decay which happens to be the most common problem among people.
Taking sweets can be planned accordingly, like you can have it once a day instead of chewing for the whole day long. You can also take sweet fruits to satisfy your sweet tooth. Fruits at least allow you to get rid of plaque by reducing bacterial formation. Moreover it is good for health too, if your meals consist of some fruits instead of jam.
The bacteria formed due to sweets inturn forms an acid that builds up the problems in your tooth. Excessive intake of acid based food i.e. vinegar should be avoided too because it harms the shine of teeth. My chat with that Baton Rouge dentist made me realize how unaware we are about our eating habits. It is not the diseases that seem to be difficult but our way to respond to these problems makes things worse.
