The mask is ambiguous half, behind which on the one hand likes to hide the truth in order to safeguard its own depth, but on the other hand we use to avoid seeing the reality, to escape from it.
According to Schopenhauer each of us is inhabited by a double subjectivity: subjectivity of the species that employs individuals for their own interest which is that of self-preservation and reproduction, and the subjectivity of the individual africa who is under the illusion of designing a world based on His other projects that are nothing but illusions to live and not see that to punctuate the rhythm of life is the immutable requirements of the species.
This dual subjectivity is encoded by psychoanalysis by the words "I" and "unconscious." Is kept the truth of the unconscious, the ego and its projects granted to the individual to live the illusion. Psychoanalysis, then, by structuring his building on the dialectic between two subjectivities, is an event of Romantic thought.
The lesson was received by Nietzsche, Schopenhauer considered that his "teacher" and that Freud considered his "precursor".
The assumption is that Schopenhauer's Life "and the" truth "can not coexist, because if the truth of the individual's life is in his instrument for the conservation of the species, the individual has to live under the illusion, wearing the mask that calls "I", and then escape from the truth of his life.
In this condition, Nietzsche sees the essence of the "tragic".
Freud does not know the "tragedy" because, clinical look at the "health," health of humanity in the guise of religion and philosophy has taken away some of the tragic vision that has kept the "truth" of existence that makes "life" seemingly impossible.
"The Hottest mortification humanity is destined to endure by modern psychological research, which intends to demonstrate that the ego is not master in his own home. This appeal was not us nor the psychoanalysts first nor the only ones to propose it, but it seems that touches us in the strongest support and backing it with clinical material. "
The recognition of Freud holds the truth with another form, the form of healing and health for those who do not have the courage of the tragic.
Nietzsche is more consistent african masks with Schopenhauer, his "teacher" than it is with Freud that also considers his "precursor" because, throwing the mask of illusion, one that allows life, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer also, also sheds the truth:
"We've taken away the real world: what world is there left? Perhaps that apparent? But no! With the true world we have also abolished the apparent one."
There's no story and no longer know whether or not as the liberation of all the masks, because the tragedy must be viewed in its essence can not be eliminated and not softened by the metaphor of the disease from which you can also heal! With Schopenhauer has happened and now the disenchantment with the masks can only play. Freud, good reader of Schopenhauer, however, was bad reader.
