Dental Implant Overdentures are a considerable improvement when compared to on conventional dentures as they provide the wearer with a firmly fixed set of false teeth that feel almost the same as natural teeth. As conventional dentures depend primarily on suction, the levels of stability and retention which are provided are constrained. Dental implants overdentures prevent this issue and they are a popular option for replacing missing teeth instead of either conventional dentures or even bridges. The surgery needed to insert dental implants can be done by a dentist whilst the patient is awake under local anaesthetic.
A pair of dental implants is inserted into the jaw which functions very much like the roots of healthy natural teeth. The implant overdenture will then be attached to the implants making it possible for the individual to experience a comparable degree of functionality from the overdentures as compared with a set of natural healthy teeth.
Implant overdentures can often be used by individuals who are unable to use conventional dentures. When a person looses some of their teeth, the bone that previously supported the teeth reduces, because of this part of the jaw can recede completely. In such instances the patient is not able to where traditional dentures but overdentures can often be used with dental implants instead.
When implants are used to support dentures, two of them are positioned in the bottom jaw and the overdenture is fixed. There are several advantages to this type of denture implant.
Dentures which are retained with implants have several significant advantages over traditional dentures. Implant Retained overdentures are significantly more comfortable and securely fixed than ordinary dentures, and the individual wearing it will often not feel as if they are using dentures at all. With older individuals the number of facial lines around the mouth area will also be decreased because of the additional support of the lips that is provided by the implants.
Regular dentures which are badly fitting can often cause discomfort to the wearer and adhesives which keep ordinary dentures in position will not be needed with implants overdentures. Research has demonstrated that the use of implant overdentures provides an improved efficiency chewing ability when eating. Furthermore, the implants also help preserve the shape of the face by eliminating bone tissue loss in the jaw which usually takes place when teeth are lost.
Dental Implants in conjunction with overdentures are a far superior alternative to traditional dentures as well as an exceptional remedy for any individual who does not want to have numerous individual implanted teeth, but wants to use dentures which are far sturdier. The initial step for those who are curious about overdentures would be to seek advice from their regular dentist to find out if they may be appropriate.
