The nursing program that is growing in population is the online LPN program. The LPN is a nurse trained to be responsible in providing healthcare firsthand assisting the RN and doctor. There are many medical concepts and nursing processes which must be understood well first before one can embark onto this journey.
Online LPN course curriculum
When you enroll into the LPN program online, you will be studying for many nursing and medical processes, equipment and terms that will allow you to assist the RN and doctors while ministering to the patients or attending to the patient’s family on progress and questions.
As such, quality online LPN course curriculum will cover basic nursing concepts including the like of human anatomy, medications, diseases, medical equipment, psychology, reports and data taking with ICT skills and knowledge. A qualified LPN would be equipped with the necessary knowledge to identify and understand the patient’s ailments and conditions. They will learn to be gentle and patient in interacting and communicating with the patients and their families. That is the necessary soft skills that a LPN needs to pick up besides the medical knowledge and skills.
Psychology is another important aspect for the LPN to understand and apply. The behavior of patients and their families vary greatly depending on sickness and personality. A LPN can impact the patients and families positively while conveying the patients’ health condition or response to treatment. ICT skills are now an essential aspect of any LPN program. Computers speed up the tedious administrative work while storing important patient’s information for later diagnosis and treatment.
Qualifications of an online LPN program
After going through the online LPN course curriculum, the graduate is equipped to serve in the healthcare community in administering medical care and comfort to the ailing population. A LPN is able to ease the RN/doctor’s heavy responsibility and busy schedule of attending to various patients. A LPN can update the RN/doctor on the patient’s medical condition for an appropriate treatment to be considered.
The LPN is trained to be deft with the nursing equipment and alert to the changes in patient’s conditions to notify the doctor or RN immediately.
The LPN can transit to be a RN with further qualification if he/she so desires; she can move on to Masters of Nursing if she wishes to specialize in any particular nursing component.
