If you recently viewed a certain pay-per-view spectacle that dubbed itself "The Biggest Party of the Summer," it certainly reminded you that the warmth you’re feeling at the back of the neck (and in your chest, arms, feet and basically your entire body) is not a sensation from seeing your crush or blushing at a compliment from one of your friends.
No, summer time is really here.
Beaches, bikinis and fun in the sun... Yes, this time of year is supposed to remind us of all those. Still, you don’t have to live near the shoreline to enjoy this season or even to stay cool. Well, exhausting your fridge by making kilos of ice to dump them in a bath tub and soak in it would qualify as one, but it’s not overly cost-effective in terms of electricity and for some, could cause some illness one way or another.
There are many ways to stay cool in the summer even inside the confines and comfort of your apartment, whether you’re living in the city, the suburbs or in another area of the country. Here are some tips that could definitely help you out:
• Wear clothes that are loose-fitting, preferably light in color.
• Speaking of clothes, cotton is better during this season
• You don’t have to buy outside to get cold water. Store bottles of H2O in the freezer then grab it when you go out. As the ice melts, voila! Cold water just for you.
• Take frequent baths
• Fill a spray bottle with water and put it in the fridge. A quick spray after being outdoors helps a lot.
• Exercise during the times of day when the sun is not too scorching. Do it in the evening or early morning. If your schedule does not permit it, shorten your regimens to avoid exercise being more detrimental than helpful.
• Drink not just water, but sports drinks as well.
• Lessen or completely avoid caffeine and alcohol as these promote dehydration.
• It’s not a sin to stay in malls or cafes for a little more of a protracted amount of time. Spend some of your hours there to cool down from the heat.
• Turn on your fans even if you have air-conditioning. It helps circulate the cold air.
In the hot sun, you can choose from any of these to help you with staying cool in the heat. It’s that time when you can go out and not worry too much about being snowed out so go ahead, enjoy! But stay cool.
