More than 8 million votes were cast in the annual Condé Nast Traveler: 2011 Readers' Choice Awards survey. These awards reflect the combined opinions of 28,876 Condé Nast Traveler readers rating the hotels, cities, and islands they visited in the past year. The Readers' Choice Awards are a unique and trusted source of global travel advice due to its range and depth.
El Portal Sedona Hotel was voted as one of the "Top Small Hotels" in the United States. This is a significant achievement, as the boutique hotel has just 12 guest suites, offers breakfast only, and afternoon hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. However it does provide a unique lodging experience not found anywhere else. El Portal owners Steve and Connie Segner want guests to feel at home, to come and go as they please with as much assistance they desire or little assistance if preferred. It is not a large resort, nor is it your typical bed and breakfast. The award comes on the heels of AAA’s Four Diamond Rating.
This little gem is located in the heart of the Arts and Crafts District in Sedona, Arizona; one and a half hours north of Phoenix. The pet friendly Sedona hotel was designed and built with painstaking attention to detail, featuring turn of the century Southwestern design, 18-inch thick handmade adobe walls, recycled wood trim and natural native stone. The hotel was built with wood and tile flooring throughout to accommodate canine visitors with 1,000 square feet of dog friendly patio area.
Each suite has a private entrance, balcony or patio, whirlpool bath, fireplace, free wireless, luxurious linens and more. The Segners built the luxury boutique hotel with the idea of catering to discerning guests and their pets. They have had a longtime involvement in the pet care industry, as owners of a pet food company and developing one of the first premium dog foods in the industry. To the Segners, there was no question that an upscale, luxury inn could provide style and the best amenities for guests and their pets.
According to the readers of Condé Nast Traveler El Portal has achieved just that. With the beauty of the red rocks of Sedona and the surrounding countryside El Portal is just steps from hiking trails, biking paths, cultural events, shopping and dining. The pet friendly bed and breakfast offers personalized concierge services to guests; from planning Grand Canyon adventures to jeep tours to hot air balloon rides - the sky’s the limit.
When planning your next vacation remember the advice of Condé Nast travelers and AAA, and make El Portal Sedona Hotel your hotel of choice.
