In the United States, we have both domestic air carriers and foreign air carriers (commonly known as part 129 air carriers). It is quite obvious that the norms of operation for these carriers wouldn’t be the same as the domestic Carriers. Anybody who wants to enter the air industry of the U.S. needs to know about all these norms. An air consulting service can be a great help here. It will help a lot to get the necessary airline certification.
In order to operate as a foreign air carrier, a company must have the permit issued by the Civil Aeronautics Board or the U.S. Department of transportation. An U.S. registered air carrier operating solely outside the U.S. is also termed as a foreign air carrier.
Each foreign air carrier needs to operate inside the U.S. under the specifications of the Administrator of this part, also need to follow the specifications of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The specifications are regarding the use of Airports, routes of flying etc.
To apply for this airline certification, an application needs to be submitted at least 30 days before starting the operation. The applications should be addressed to the Flight Standards District Office. If any military airbase is going o be used during operation, then a separate application needs to be submitted to the military headquarters of Washington.
Without the air certification of current registration and air worthiness certificates, no part 129 airlines is permitted to operate in the U.S. Also the person operating the Airline needs to ensure that the airline is properly maintained under the guidelines of the administrator.
There are some specific guidelines for the crew members of the part 129 airlines too. According to this, a person applying for the post of crew member should posses a current certificate or license issued by the authority of the country which is the origin of the airline.
Well, these are some of the specific guidelines for the foreign air carriers in the U.S. Actually there are much more norms meant for these airline which we will cover in the upcoming articles, stay tuned!
