Breuer Chairs created by Marcel Breuer, architect and furniture designer. He was born in Hungary and studied at the Bauhaus and eventually became a faculty member. The tubular steel design was inspired by his idea from the handlebars of his bicycle. During this period he developed his idea with the German manufacturer Mannesmann.
"my most extreme work . . . the least artistic, the most logical, the least ‘cozy' and the most mechanical."
This was an innovative technique to be put on track by the German company, in fact before that date, the steel tubes were welded together to create something similar, not to create chairs.
Today, the chairs in tubular steel are recognizable everywhere. Most of us probably are not aware of innovative design, but it was very radical at that time. It was probably the strongest improvement of design in the 20 century.
You can see the Breuer chair to the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York City. The Breuer chair B3 is an element from the gallery.
B3 is known as the Wassily chair, as Wassily Kandinsky, one of the teachers of the Bauhaus, admired the opera, he has owned one. Wassily chair is almost an art in itself.
We mostly see him pointing out a room in an architectural magazine. From regular chair at the dining table piece for a magnificent gallery, Breuer chairs is really nothing new that still lives in 360 ° .
The Breuer chair has been made for over fifty years and is the world's most popular chair. Marcel Lajos Breuer designer of the Breuer chair couldn't have possibly imagined how popular his chair would be.
The Wassily Chair is a classic like none other. Its design remains progressive even in comparison to the design world's latest furniture. Its build is complex in appearance but simple in construction, a contrast which has earned its place in museums throughout the world, and in thousands of modern-minded homes.
We have a pair here at TheCoolist, and we can say without a doubt that the Wassily Chair is one of history's greatest pieces of modern furniture. Marcel Breuer may have passed in 1981, but we believe his legendary piece of furniture will never lose its relevance to the world of modern design.
