The Real Cause of American Obesity

Many of us already know that its a fact that in-taking more calories then we expel on a daily basis will result in the human body creating and retaining fats. What is little known are that other components may be to blame for the obesity epidemic hitting Americans harder then any other population in the world. So just what are these other factors causing the obesity crisis?
Disorderly Eating Habits- Lack of ability to control ones self while eating meals, snacks etc. is among one of the top factors driving this culture to become obese. Take the All American Buffet for example, people can be observed gorging themselves with two, three or even more servings of food because the sign reads "All You Can Eat for $9.99." Simply modifying our view's of the situation from, I've paid $9.99 for this meal so I'd better take all I can get and rethinking the situation such as, I've paid $9.99 for access to having a wide variety of choices for my meal today, a better sense of self control could be achieved resulting in reduced calorie intake when tempted with such situations.
Lack of Exercise-With the advent of technology such as the automobile, computers etc. the need to travel by foot has been eliminated and human entertainment now includes sitting on the couch watching television or chatting with friends online, heck I'm one to be seen sitting on face book hours at a time just waiting for the next big wave of excitement to be posted. When taking a close look at how sedimentary Americans have become it's easily identifiable that exercise just does not take place anymore. By spending the afternoon throwing a Frisbee outside with the children, will not only be a healthy way of getting active it also gets children off of the game systems to experience healthier forms of entertainment.
Genetics-Yes I must bring up genetics as a factor to blame. Scientific research has proven that genetic factors do exist surrounding why some people are more prone to becoming obese. With that said, the key phrase here is "Prone to becoming obese." This did not say, "Genetics will keep you from ever attaining the sleek physique one may desire." I have heard the comment spoken time and time again that, "my parents were obese so I'm always going to be overweight." ABSOLUTELY NOT! This thought process is dooming the entire nation into a weight crisis because its become a means of excuse when individuals have no desire to try and make healthy changes for themselves. Thinking positive will lead to positive results.
Dramatic Yo-Yo Dieting-Sometimes we are left feeling like desperate times call for desperate measures when traditional methods of weight loss just fail. The American culture has become so centered around perfection in the media and television that people feel desperate to drop added weight quickly. When cutting out multiple items enjoyed from our diet , we eventually relapses. Relapses are disastrous situations for people struggling to lose weight because it turns into a vicious cycle of finding comfort foods to feel emotional satisfaction. This satisfaction then becomes short lived when the individual blames them-self afterwords for ingesting ridiculous amounts of calories. To curb this yo-yo relapsing, people can slowly remove the least unhealthy items from there diet over a period of time allowing a greater sense of satisfaction as they can still enjoy the very foods that they love until they get used to the new healthier style of eating.
