Why Do I Play Squash

We live in fast times. Working in a financial sector, I used to find myself in a situation where my days would pass in a second between getting up, working, eating and sleeping. This face pace of my life left me with no time for proper recreation, running, playing football or swimming. All these activities required me to devote minimum 3 hours of my time preparing for recreation, doing it for at least an hour or two and getting back home. I was simply unable to find required time for this. On the other hand, life without sport was out of the question for me. Not only I am prone to getting weight but also with this busy life I have been requiring a place to "vent out" my work related stress and burn my calories.
Does this sound familiar? Is your life similar to mine, busy and hectic? Well, maybe my selection of sport can help you as it improved my life.
Fortunately, a close friend of mine took me to a squash court about a year ago. I have played tennis before, but the game of squash was rather new for me. I have seen squash games on TV and I have heard about a few popular players, including Nick Matthew and Jahangir Khan before. But actually playing the game of squash was a little bit of mystery for me.
Once I started playing it, I was amazed!! The game itself is extremely competitive and fast, it requires an excellent physical condition and fast reflexes. I remember not being able to walk the next day after my first game, my legs and arms were hurting so bad since I was seriously out of shape. Also, I remember my friend laughing and teasing me for days after these first games, I was an easy prey for him since I used to lose one game after another. He does not laugh anymore; actually, he does not even play against me since the last game which he won was about six months ago. I guess I have had the last laugh in squash.
Getting back to the actual game of squash, this sport is not only fun, it is also extremely healthy. The Forbes magazine selected it as the healthiest game ever in 2010. I am no doctor but I can tell you that I have managed to seriously shape up since I started playing it regularly, 2-3 times a week. I have read somewhere that playing squash for half an hour burn between 500-1000 calories. And yes, half an hour is more than enough and it perfectly fits into my schedule, cutting required recreation time in half.
I could go on for hours describing reasons why I have started to love this sport. But I guess some things you might want to discover by yourself. Try it, you will see there is no other sport which can bring you so much fun and recreation in such a short period of time.
Enjoy playing squash.
The only thing you might need is the top quality squash gear at affordable prices.
