Generally speaking, a new kitchen will add between 4% and 12% to a kitchen. In 2011 compared to 2004, the value of what a kitchen will add to a property has drastically reduced due to the slowdown in house prices and the credit crunch. Previously, a kitchen costing £4,000 would add on as much as £19,000 to the value of a home according to figures by HSBC. Now, you would be more realistic in the £6,000 mark.
Where you live will have an impact on the house values, and your home will have an upper and lower value depending on economic conditions as well as location and the properties state of repair.
A bespoke kitchen will last you a lifetime, and as well as giving you pleasure and making your home a more enjoyable place to be it will also appeal to buyers when you do come to sell your property. Two things that most buyers look for when making a decision on buying a home – the state of the kitchen and the bathroom, as these are two areas which are seen as costly to replace.
Aside from the kitchen itself, it can be the small touches that become appealing and makes the room stand apart from the average kitchen installed in today’s difficult market.
There are many styles of kitchens to choose from, from contemporary to traditional country style and anything in between. Many people go for the traditional style in more traditional homes whereas this would look out of place in a modern apartment. It’s important to choose a style that matches the personality of your home and doesn’t look out of place. Think about who will be looking to buy your home – a couple, family, professional or student? Take these things into consideration before making your final decision. The beauty of a bespoke kitchen is that you can choose what suits your taste, budget and lifestyle.
The home is the central point of the home, it’s where everyone ends up whether you are having a party of a family gathering. We eat, entertain, cook, chat, make decisions, read, watch TV and listen to the radio. Therefore it needs to be well designed and properly installed.
Many kitchens are open plan, combining the dining and cooking area as one, and so creating more family space.
When designing a kitchen, make sure you are clear about the style you are looking for – check out the interiors magazines, some of which are kitchen specific, so that you are clear on the look you are going for. A professional kitchen company can offer advice on the best design for the space available and also the product choice for your chosen style.
