Valentine's Day is fast approaching. A helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon is the ultimate romantic and fun experience for the occasion. Air tours of the Grand Canyon are known to be exciting because of the scenic views and those views can be incredibly romantic too.
Before you make flight reservations, you have to decide between a tour of the South Rim or the West Rim. If you are located in Arizona, you will go to the South. That's because it is too far for helicopters to fly to the South Rim from Vegas.
Until they look into it or arrive in the area, a lot of people don't realize that the West Rim isn't far from Las Vegas. It is about 120 miles away and a helicopter can fly you there in less than an hour. On the way, you will fly over the country's biggest manmade reservoir known as Lake Mead. You will also see the massive Hoover Dam from the air. You get to see plenty of amazing sights long before you get to the National Park. As your chopper soars above Grand Wash Cliffs and enters into the airspace above the Grand Canyon, the amazing wonder unfolds below you.
Grand Canyon West (the West Rim) has something amazing and it's not available at the South Rim. This is the only section of the Park where helicopters are allowed to land on the canyon floor. This particular landing tour package includes a champagne picnic at the bottom (could anything be more romantic?), but you could also add a smooth-water float trip down the Colorado River. For some thrills, you can add on passes to the glass Skywalk that juts out over the rim of the canyon.
Helicopter rides to the West Rim allow you to land on the rim or the canyon floor. You have ample time to see sights such as the Indian Cultural Center, Hualapai Ranch, Guano Point, and Eagle Point.
If you decide on the South Rim instead, you can choose a 30-minute or 50-minute helicopter tour. The half hour flight goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back. The longer fifty minute flight goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and then to the East Rim. The longer tours are best if you have the time because you get to see more of this fantastic region and its diverse geography.
You should seek out tour operators who use the EcoStar 130 choppers for their helicopter rides. You will ride in comfort and sit in stadium-style seats and see the sights from 180-degree wrap around windows. The cabin is also a lot bigger than you'd get in other choppers, and the climate control is state-of-the-art.
Seats fill up fast for Valentine's Day helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon. You don't really think you're the only one out there who thinks this would be a romantic way to spend this special day, do you? Go ahead and book your flight as far in advance as you can. Waiting much longer than that means the tour you want might be sold out. Valentine's Day is a very important occasion and you don't want to blow it, so get your seats early.
Make your reservations online, when you book your flight on the tour operator's website, you get the best deals. You have to complete the process of buying your seats online in order to get the big savings associated with the Internet discount and that will give you extra money to spend on a romantic dinner and flowers!
