When my sister was younger she had great abs because she was careful about what she ate, restricted her fat intake and did numerous ab crunches daily and, though it was extremely hard work, it was well worth the effort. All of this changed however after she gave birth to her son when she swiftly went very soft around the middle, developed prominent love handles, and was not able to seem to rid herself of the flab regardless of how many different diets she tried.

This would have been bad enough, but she also discovered that she could not even do her crunches anymore because of severe back pain. She was not ready however to give in to being out of shape and she decided to check out some abdominal exercise machines.

Abdominal exercise machines are specially designed to target the abs during a workout and the majority of machines imitate normal crunches but are far easier on your body. For instance, the majority of people do crunches lying flat on their back on the floor with their hands clasped behind their head putting them at risk for back and neck injuries. This is not however a risk with abdominal exercise machines because they limit your movement and force you to maintain good form in order to work with the machine. In this sense abdominal exercise machines are almost foolproof and permit the remainder of your body a break while you are working on your abs.

My sister had watched many late-night infomercials for exercisers but was not prepared to rush out and buy one based solely on what she had heard on TV. She did not wish to hear what professional bodybuilders and actors were paid to tell her but wanted to hear what ordinary individuals had to say about these machines from their own personal experience.

So she searched online and discovered many consumer reviews of most of the leading abdominal exercisers. She wanted to discover which of the machines were well-constructed, simple to use, and really worked on sculpting your abs and which would simply be a waste of her money and time. Additionally, she wanted to discover those websites where she could buy the most popular abdominal exercise machines at reasonable prices because the machines are expensive and any discount which she might be able to find would certainly be helpful.

One thing which she did say to me was that she was pleased that she had read the internet reviews because one of the machines which she had her eye on had not been very well received by the reviewers. It seems that this particular machine has one or two significant problems which she would not have discovered in advance of buying it. Consequently she bought a machine which was quite a way down her list of possibilities but which had nevertheless had great reviews.

The good news is that now that she has bought her machine she is able to work on her abs three or four times a week without experiencing the back pain which she had previously without it. Very importantly, she is now beginning to see a reduction in her waist and should soon be back in shape again and feeling much more like her old self.
