I truly believe that nudity, nude photography and erotic posing and performance are entirely acceptable as long as they bear the permission of both the viewer and the artiste.

We jet off to Europe and marvel at the explicit artworks of the 15/16th century; even the Catholic church seemed quite happy with boobs and bums on the domes of their exotic and glorifying cathedrals; and why not? What a celebration Life itself they are!

We should remind ourselves that while sexuality and nudity is sometimes shunned in its visual form, those same critics often spend endless hours reading explicit material in books. I am sometimes embarrassed when I realise what some are reading! Why, then, are people like them not comfortable with the same expressions visually? I think we should be able to celebrate the human form more freely and readily and more often than we do.

But this only for the married couple, some say. Well that is the reality of those who believe this. There are many who believe that sharing erotic pictures, videos and even tasteful pornography is acceptable and in many instances a healthy part of one’s personal and otherwise private sex life.

Perhaps it is true that sex is legitimate only between married partners; perhaps it is also true that this kind of intimacy is acceptable between any consenting adults. The plethora of trashy adult sites is of course one of the most powerful reasons for shying away from eroticism and nudity itself. What a shame. One only has to see the work of the world’s top photographers to really appreciate the pure art and celebration of some erotic artistes. I am not a newcomer to this side of sexuality and have personally witnessed some of the inner workings of what some call the sex industry. There are many girls who in fact find their work extremely enjoyable. Many more young people are more sexually aware and competent than many older people from moral high grounds would care to admit. Young girls who not only make their living in this industry, but also find a way to show off their sensual beauty do so with utter confidence, willingness and well-balanced bearing; all of which speak of a well tuned inner self that knows exactly who they are. In fact most of them are a far-cry from the so called abused child adult. In many cases this cannot be said of many of those criticising them.

David Hamilton was the name in the seventies. Today there are many more who venture into this arena of nudity, sexuality and the sheer celebration of erotic beauty itself.

I am sure that if sensual erotic nude sites were promoted more, people would have an alternative and those who end up venturing into the world of tasteless, profane and trashy porn, would otherwise have a home to feel secure in. This should be a home where they can be comfortable enjoying the celebration of the human form and it’s propensity for sexuality that can be such a joy.
