Thinking that cradle cap is a harmless disease and get cured automatically in course of time, many people make the mistake of ignoring it altogether. Eventually, they find that the disease has taken a bad turn and started to cause harm to the baby. In the worse turn, the disease may start spreading to the other parts of the body. Or the affected area may become crusty and look ugly.

However, it is not necessary to be much worried about the worse effects of cradle cap. In any case, it will not go out of control. It is also never seen that the disease has become infectious and started to pass on to others. So, no need to be worried about it. Rather, parents should be careful that about the fact that the disease is not passing on to the other parts of the body. And that the affected area in treated well.

There is no hard and fast rule to cure cradle cap. As of now, dermatologists are not sure of the factors that cause the skin condition. They are also not making extensive research on it as the disease is not harmful. So far, it has been found that usage of mild shampoo is enough to cure cradle cap. But it is not clear what is exactly meant by ‘mild’. Probably, the shampoos that are made for babies are indicated here.

Other specialists suggest home made pastes to be applied on the affected area. They opine that natural herbs are good enough to cure cradle cap. According to them, it is not necessary to process these herbs in a sophisticated manner. A paste made in home will be sufficient for curing the skin condition. So, parents need not to be worried that the disease. But they should not ignore it fully.
