In this modern world, more and more men are extremely unhappy about their penis sizes. In fact a large percentage of them have been considering having penis surgery, in an attempt to improve the function of their proud member and of course enhance their penis appearance. Such kind of surgery, phalloplasty, is also called cosmetic penile enhancement or augmentation surgery, had gained much headway recently.

However, this kind of surgery still remains a very controversial method. This is because in any penile enlargement surgery, there is an element of unpredictability and the risks involved are often very high. Imagine having to go through expensive surgery and couple with the risks, you can see that only the very brave men would consider to under take this route.

So how is phalloplasty performed for the brave ones? Basically, it involved two separate procedures: one to lengthen the penis and another to increase girth of the penis.

In order to lengthen the penis, this is achieved by cutting the ligament that supports the erections. Ouch! However, this will allow the penis to extend forwards and outwards, making a larger portion of it to be exposed.

On the other hand, penile girth or the width of the penis, is surgically increased either by Alloderm Graft, Fat Transfer, or Dermal Augmentation. These kind of procedures usually involve harvesting fat cells or strips of tissue from other parts of the body to be inserted or grafted to the penis, to achieve the desired girth.

Be forewarned though. Using surgical methods to increase the length and girth of the penis may bring about unwanted effects, even complications. There are risk of surface infections, bleeding, bruising, or even painful scarring, reduced angle of erection, causing your beloved penis to be very prone to injury. The re-absorption of fat cells would sometimes lead to penis shortening, asymmetry and deformities, soft erections, permanent numbness, loss of sexual function, and even impotence.

Penis surgery, apart from the obvious risks, is viewed to be dangerous with potential side effects and complications. The cost such surgery is also a big issue. Typical surgery costs of the different types of cosmetic penile surgery could be as low as $3,000 per operation to as much as $10,000! There are many men who had unsuccessful operations ended up spending another large sum of money on further surgery, in an attempt to restore their former penis size. And even that sometimes without success!
