The benefits

Sat Nav has become very small and compact since its original concept for Military use. They have become so small and useful that they can now fit in your pocket, purse for even on a memory card for your cell phone. The fact that a Sat Nav device can be left in you pocket makes the whole idea of Sat Nav very useful if you are on vacation in a different city. They can guide you around the city and also display other information such as restaurants and hotels on the screen, just in case you need them.

They have become so useful that nearly every inch of the globe has been mapped and these Sat Nav devices can give you useful information while you are travelling. They have even been adapted for use in the Marine Industry, giving precise positioning on the open seas.

Sat Nav works off the principle of sending and receiving signals to and from satellites in space. They send and receive these signals to a number of satellites. These in turn try and pin point your location by sending a signal. When these cross, that is your point on the map.

Sat Navs have evolved to a point where they have other uses than just telling you where you are on the Earth. Some have become very technical, with Car Kits and photo albums installed on them. Other functions such as MP3 players exist on some Sat Navs.

When using a Sat Nav; try not having your home saved in your Sat Nav under the term "Home". Should someone gain access to your keys and then your car, they can be directed to your home with your house keys and let him or herself in the front door. Keep your Sat Nav out of sight when you are not using it, keeping it on your person or else hiding it out of sight in the car.
