A common complaint men have about women is their lack of interest in having sex.

A common complaint women have about men is their interest in having sex.

Men want and need frequent sex with their mate; but women are often just not in the mood.

According to the American Medical Association nearly half the adult female population suffers from Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD). Or as their partners may call it "Frequent Sexual Denial".

This problem is not just found in the US. In the UK the clinics there also report large numbers of women who complain of low libido.

Why is this apparent lack of sex drive so common in women and quite rare in men?

Doctors believe some of the physical causes to be related to the use of certain prescription drugs, alcohol, diabetes, hormonal abnormalities and anemia.

Psychological/Emotional causes such as depression, stress, anxiety are also suspected.

Interestingly in the US anti-depressants are now the most widely prescribed drug.

So are modern western women suddenly stressed out, overworked females suffering from anemia and hormonal imbalances and a diet deficient in prescription anti-depressants?

Women throughout history have been stressed out, overworked, challenged by anemia and hormonal fluctuations. They have faced tremendous emotional ordeals: losing fathers, sons and lovers in wars; Losing children in child birth; Child birth itself.

So it must be a lack of prescription anti-depressants right? Big pharmacy would like you to think so. They are busy pushing pills for whatever ails you. So far they have had little success in finding a pill to turn women on sexually.

What about getting rid of the things that turn off a woman's sexual desire: I call them the "Female Libido Killers".

Back to the question: Why is this apparent lack of sex drive so common in women and quite rare in men?

Quite simply a woman's biological system is more sensitive than man's. I don't mean in a touchy feely way. A female's body and brain chemistry is more complex than a male's and therefore more sensitive to her environment and nutrition. It has to do with her ability to have children.

Are women killing their own libidos? They probably are with out realizing it. Our modern lifestyle has her eating many foods that are toxic to her body and ruining her sex drive. Today's modern woman may be killing her libido and not know it. Here are some common Female Libido Killers:

Female Libido Killers

• Caffeine (coffee, teas and soda) that boost during the day may mean going bust at night.

• Refined and Processed Foods

• Fast Foods (not just the drive thru types, this includes frozen dinners and the like)

• Sweets (candy, cookies, cakes, etc.)

• Anything containing Soybeans (oil, meal, floor, tofu, etc)

• Birth Control Pills (research indicates this may be the #1 libido killer)

• Too much red meat (the toxins from the fat and too much omega-6 in the diet)

• Starchy foods (potatoes, white rice, corn, pasta, breads, etc)

• Alcohol

Is her diet high in these foods? If it is, then she maybe killing her own libido.

Reduce caffeine consumption and limit it to the morning hours. Caffeine consumption can put your serotonin levels out of balance.

Empty the freezer and cabinets of refined and processed foods. Sweetened cereals are especially bad. Insulin spikes and high levels effect every system in the body.

Limit fast food to one meal per week.

Sweets won't make her sweeter but a small amount (4 oz) of the right kind of chocolate on daily basis can boost her libido. Look for chocolate with high cacao content (50% or more).

Limit soybean consumption to soy sauce and then just a little. Don't believe the hype the soybean industry gives about how healthy soy is. Soybeans are toxic in their unprocessed forms.

Consider another form of birth control beside the pill. What good is convenience if there is no desire? The pill is a notorious libido killer. Anything that messes with the balance of a woman's hormones is bound to have an ill effect on her libido.

Lean red meat is good for you in many ways but eating too much can throw off your balance of essential fatty acids. Red meat is high in omega 6 oils. Eat more fish instead (the ones high in omega-3 EFAs).

Most of us get way too much starch in our diets. Why do you think there is such a problem with diabetes, obesity and low sex drive now days? A high starch diet causes numerous body and brain chemistry problems as it effects insulin levels.

Alcohol. A little wine once or twice a week can be healthy but more than that--Inhibitions is not the only thing alcohol diminishes.

It may not be a medical condition that is killing the female libido; it may be what she is eating every day. Others say its in her head, they are on the right track. Not a psychological problem, but a brain chemistry problem. Heal the brain and restore the libido.
