Don't forget to Stretch
Never neglect the need to warm up with stretches before you begin your aerobic workout. Stretching and warming up prepares your body for things to come and increases your flexibility. Stretching before an aerobic workout will also help to avoid injury during the exercises.
Being Comfortable
Being comfortable when you are a part of any aerobic workout regime is very important and can be the key to how well you perform. Wear fabric and clothing that stretch and fit you perfectly. Cotton is the popular choice as this is considered the most breathable material and provides comfort and ease of motion. A comfortable pair of shoes is also a good investment so don't be afraid to go for the expensive pair.
Doing your aerobic workout indoors gives you a little more control over the environment in terms of the temperature. Aerobic workouts are best done in a fairly cool room to discourage your body from sweating even more than it has to. A cooler room will also help you to avoid dangerously overheating. However, don't make it too cold as this can make you sick and rather uncomfortable throughout the entire workout. Remember that you will be sweating so when you finish the aerobic workout your body and clothing will be wet. A cold room is not a very good place to be in when you're wet and your body will react rather poorly when your body temperature changes drastically.
Aerobic Workout Videos
If an aerobic workout video is what you plan on using, considering watching the entire video before you start exercising to it. This will help give you an idea of how difficult the workout will be as well as if you can even complete it without risking injury or strain.
Remember that there is nothing wrong with going with beginner level videos. There is no hurry in moving up to the more difficult aerobic workout videos. Start off slow and work your way up. Make sure you can successfully complete your current level before bumping the difficulty level higher.
Injuries
Before you start any aerobic workout routine, consult with a physician to make sure your body can handle it without risking any injuries. Always follow any suggestions the physician has for you if he/she recommends a specific aerobic workout plan.
Never force your body to continue an exercise if you feel that you have pulled a muscle or injured yourself in anyway. Continuing your aerobic workout will only make the injury worse than it already is. Give yourself and your body a rest and treat the source of discomfort. If a severe injury is suspected, don't be afraid to seek medical attention.
Music while you Workout
Listening to music while you do your aerobic workouts will help keep you motivated and maintain the pace. If you use aerobic workout videos, just turn down the volume once you have memorized the routine.
Aerobics Classes
Before signing up for any aerobics classes, stop by and watch a full workout session if possible. This will help you determine if the level of intensity and length of time is right for you. This can also help you mentally prepare for the classes if you do decide to join.
The Cool Down
Cooling yourself down at the end of an aerobic workout is just as important as the warm up in the beginning. Stretch or walk to gradually cool down your body temperature and return your heart rate to normal. Cold stopping after an aerobic workout can lead to soreness and pain the next morning so be sure to take some time after exercising to cool yourself down.
