Best Acne Treatment

Acne is one of those human conditions that is so common that an entire industry has sprung up to provide a "cure" or relief to those that suffer from the skin condition. Because almost everybody gets a dose of acne at some point in their lives and it is almost universal that teenagers will get it, the companies that make treatments for acne do a very good business. And because there are new teenagers hitting puberty every year, it is a business that doesn’t come and go. Parents and teenagers alike are very interested in finding a medicine that can get rid of the pimples.

Clearasil is probably the best known of the acne medications. But many people report little or no results using the most common brands of medications. Part of the problem may be that acne treatments are made to target specific types of acne. And if the type you have produces oily blemishes and you use a brand that clears up dry and scaly acne sores, you will not get what you are paying from that medication. So the first order of business is to understand your own acne condition and then be a smart shopper when you go to the drug store to get something to deal with the problem.

But even then there will be a big selection of treatment types. You might feel inclined to buy the cheapest treatment and give it a try to see what it can do. But if it doesn’t work and then you have to buy the expensive stuff, you just threw money down the drain. And considering most teenagers deal with acne for their entire puberty period, you want to find something that works and stick with it.

Of course, the way you go about finding out where quality is in an any other kind of product is a good way to select a treatment for acne too. Ask around. In any Junior High or High School, there are hundreds of kids trying various acne products. So you or the teenager in your life no doubt know other people fighting the same battle you are. Why not join forces and find the best treatment on the market by pooling your knowledge? Then when you find a good medication, make sure you share that information with others so everyone benefits from the learning curve of dealing with acne.

Finally, your dermatologist is a good source of information. Drug companies are always visiting doctors so you can bet that the family dermatologist knows about different brands of acne medication and knows which ones he or she has confidence in. Even if the acne is not severe, an initial trip to the dermatologist is in order so he can determine what kind of acne you have and get a feel for your condition should it get worse. In many cases, the doctor will have an assortment of samples form the major acne medications that he can send home for you to try. The doctor may not come right out and recommend one but with a subtle clue like "This one seems to do well", he will give you a recommendation that fits your condition.
