London has more that 6000 restaurants to offer and it is a real heaven for those who prefer high-quality food. Here you can taste traditional dishes prepared in more than 70 world countries and visit one of its 35 Michelin-starred restaurants. If that fact does not influence your appetite in any way, you can always have a fish‘n’chips snack – the food that is always fresh and safe.
Dinner is usually served at 12.00 to 14.00, so restaurants and cafes are usually noisy and crowded during these hours. A large amount of restaurants offer their service to the clients all day long, especially those located in central London and next to the tourist’s attractions.
The evening working hours are usually different for different restaurants. They usually open at 18.00 and as most of the visitors come here at 20.00 – 22.00, so it is recommended to book your table in advance, especially on such days as Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Soho is the epicenter of London eating places with restaurants suitable for every taste and
purse. At the same time, the other city’s districts offer you not only a vast variety of dishes and cuisines, but also reasonable prices.
For instance, Brick Lane district located in the eastern part of London (also known as Banglatown), offers a great amount of various Indian restaurants, while Chinatown which is in the West End invites you to taste dim sum and other Chinese dishes offered in its cafes and restaurants.
A large number of local restaurants such as Café Rouge, TGI Fridays, Spaghetti House and Harry Ramsdens are located all about the city and do not only offer dishes for reasonable prices, but also have an exceptional atmosphere that is so loved by children.
If you are going to have a snack before visiting theatre, you can go to a special cafe that offers cheaper food than that you are used to eating in other places. Such cafes can be easily found in any central part of London, for instance, The Strand street and the Shaftesbury Avenue.
Most of cafes and restaurants accept credit cards by large credit companies such as Visa, MasterCard and Amex. As a rule, you will have to leave tips that make up no less than 10 % of the total cost except the cases when you are not satisfied with the level of service. Very often, the bill already includes 10-15 % of tipping sum. In this case, you won’t have to pay anything else.
London pubs and bars are always full of life. There are more than 5000 pubs here among which you can find traditional British pubs as well as modern ones that use up-to-date equipment. There are also gastro pubs that serve excellent food, elegant pubs attended by the most elegant London citizens, trendy night bars and wine bars.
