Installing home security wireless cameras can be a great way to add extra protection around your home. People today have access to surveillance cameras with a wide variety of highly advanced features.
When choosing a video surveillance camera for home security, your choice is largely dependent on your specific security needs.
One of the latest developments is a "mesh network." Tiny nodes that can be placed anywhere wireless network connectivity is needed. Each node has the ability to connect and communicate wirelessly to other nearby nodes which creates its own network. Additional mesh nodes can be added if network expansion is necessary. Implementing a mesh network in your home gives you the ability to operate wireless video cameras both inside and outside your home without the restriction of wireless transmitters. All you have to do is plug your wireless video camera into any existing power source and it will automatically connect to your network.
Many of the newer video surveillance cameras are IP-based which means they're designed to operate over digital computer networks. This makes it possible for you to view live video feeds from your surveillance cameras over the Internet through a standard web browser. IP cameras also give you the ability to remotely control some camera functions such like pan/tilt/zoom, and image resolution.
Another area of technological advancement in the video surveillance field is video recording technology. While stand-alone DVR technology continues to expand, many consumers are turning to PC-based DVRs. This gives you the ability to turn your PC into a fully functioning DVR device. PC-based DVRs have an advantage over stand-alone models because they often provide more advanced features, greater storage capacity, and greater opportunity for future expansion.
New sensing devices are being incorporated into home video surveillance equipment. Many surveillance cameras already incorporate motion-sensing devices. Some of the newer cameras also include sensors to detect temperature variations, lighting variations, and the presence of water. These additional sensing options expand the level of feedback you can achieve from your home surveillance system.
Video surveillance technology will always be changing and improving. If you're just now beginning to consider implementing a surveillance system within your home, you may want to consider incorporating some of these latest technical innovations. They'll give you the greatest ability to expand and improve on your system, as your security needs change.
