Majorca (Mallorca) is the largest of the Balearic Islands and its given name quite accurately describes this, as Majorca means major. Situated in the Mediterranean Sea along with its smaller, neighbouring islands Menorca and Ibiza, Majorca has been popular with both British and German tourists for many years and, is recognised as one of the most revisited holiday destinations. The obvious reason is that Majorca has a lot to offer the holidaymaker, but I feel it unfortunate, that many visitors have not experienced the true Majorca the absolute beauty of this island.
Majorca offers the holidaymaker many accommodation options All Inclusive, Half Board and Self Catering Hotels, Hostels, Luxury Villas, Cottages, and Agritourismo Hotels are also becoming very popular. Majorca, being located in the Mediterranean, obviously has ideal weather for your sun holidays as well.
As expected many tourists, for economic reasons, come to Majorca and choose the "All Inclusive Hotel Accommodation" option. These hotels are great value for money; however, because most of these visitors do not leave their hotels, they are not even aware that they’re missing out on something truly fantastic.
Other holidaymakers choose hotels with other options, such as Half-Board and Self-Catering. These people do leave their hotels and explore the resorts they are staying in. Their holiday photos indeed illustrate Majorca’s gorgeous, sandy beaches, and a clear turquoise sea.
However, Majorca has something that many holidaymakers never capture in their holiday photos or experience whilst relaxing in the resort they have chosen for their holidays, I call it The Real Majorca!
I think it is really unfortunate that some visitors to Majorca are unaware of what they are missing outside of their resorts the islands absolutely beautiful coastal and interior landscape.
The interior of Mallorca is magnificent, and it’s a terrible shame that more visitors to the island do not explore it. Its beauty is insurmountable and so breathtaking.
The lush green countryside is a splendid sight in the spring, when the landscape displays a combination of white and pink blossoming almond trees. It is truly a beautiful sight one that I look forward to every year. The wildflowers and red poppies that fill the countryside and trim the motorways later in spring are also quite remarkable.
Inland Mallorca also displays a breathtaking landscape that is lined with olive trees, lemon and orange groves, as well as vineyards. Moreover, this gorgeous scenery is all backed by the majestic Serra de Tramuntana Mountain Range. Against patchworks of multicoloured crop fields, Mallorcan fincas (or farmhouses) seem to come into sight around every corner. Quaint Spanish villages magically appear out of nowhere.
Majorca also has some of the most fantastic views from its extraordinary stunning coastline. One can explore the many long golden beaches that run along the dazzling aquamarine sea, and some of these beaches are sheltered by spectacular rocky headlands. There are some other hidden beauty spots to be discovered as well.
Yes, Majorca (Mallorca) has much to offer holiday visitors in the way of accommodation. Majorca’s clean beaches, clear, aqua-marine waters and fantastic warm climate make it the perfect place to experience absolute relaxation. But this truly wonderful holiday destination has so much more to offer its visitors something some holidaymakers are not aware of.
To truly experience a wonderful holiday in Majorca, I believe that one should see and explore everything it has to offer. Just one day away from the resort could prove to be a wonderful memory that will be etched in your mind forever. The day out will offer you the chance of experiencing the true Majorca, and undoubtedly, the perfect opportunity to take superb panoramic holiday photographs.
