Self-tanning is a process of tanning the body without exposing it to the sun directly. It is a safer alternative to traditional suntanning.

The market is full of self-tanning products. They come in different forms such as sprays, gels, wipes, lotions, and pills. These products are an alternative to sun tanning. The main ingredient of all these self-tanning products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA).

Today, the activity of tanning, either indoor tanning or beach tanning, and having a golden glow is a mark of healthiness and prosperity. Men and women tan their bodies in sun tanning booths to have that golden skin, but it comes with a price. It may be a price that is too high.

Apply Your Self-Tanning Products At Night

Since most self-tanning lotions have no sunscreen for protection outdoors, the best time to use self-tanners is at night before going to bed.

If done earlier, allow a minimum of two hours and test for staining before putting back on your regular clothes. Use sprays or products that contain extra coloring formula earlier in the evening, or when you have more time to "dry" after applying.

Make sure that you are aware of your skin type and what it takes to get a tan. If you know what you can handle, then you never have to worry about taking things to far. This is when people usually run into problems such as sun burn.

Just because you want to get a tan does not mean that you should not use sun tan lotion. This is a great way to protect your skin while also getting a tan. Even though you will not tan as fast, it is still the way to go in order to ensure that you do not get burnt and end up with a major problem on your hands.
