Floor wax and floor finish may seem to be similar, but actually there is a big difference between them. Both qualify to be called floor finishes, but not all floor finish products are wax products. The difference can be easily seen, as the floor finish is a protective coating that gives a high specular (mirror like) glossy finish that is very slip resistant. Floor wax is also a protective floor finishing product that can be buffed to a sheen. Both keep scuffs and foot traffic from damaging the floor surface. Floor wax is traditional and needs regular care and renewal, and some waxes need to be removed and then reapplied to function at their best effectiveness. This can involve extra time stripping wax from the floor, and employee expense.
Floor finish puts down a top layer of acrylic coating over the floor surface. It is great for high traffic areas especially, due to product strength and durability. Floor waxes and floor finishes help to make floor surfaces safe, look good, and enable secure footing. A new floor finish product, Mega Flex, incorporates zinc in its chemical make up. It puts down a metal cross-linked finish that gives a mirror like "specular" gloss finish to floors. These durable floor finish products not only present a higher gloss finish, but also are a better slip resistant product. Since they last longer, there is less maintenance involved in keeping your facility looking fresh and new.
Floor wax and floor finish products are essential for use by commercial janitorial services, and in office buildings, medical facilities, grocery stores, and retail establishments. Longer lasting, harder finish floor finish products like Mega Flex work well in areas that receive high foot traffic, as seen in schools, hospitals, public buildings, and malls. Both floor finish and floor wax show best maintenance results and longevity when cleaned with synthetic neutral floor cleaners.
A good example of the effectiveness of a floor finish can be seen in Mega Flex floor finish. Mega Flex is a 24% acrylic floor finish product that is long lasting, easy to apply, and maintain. This product features a unique polymer technology that accepts both slow speed floor buffing, or ultra high speed floor burnishing. It is traffic ready immediately after being applied, and does not require additional buffing or burnishing. Just use a spray buff, a mop-on restore product, or a buffing crème to bring Mega Flex finished floors back to their original beauty.
Visiting customers will immediately notice the mirror like finish and very clean, new look to floors at first glance, it is that obvious. These new acrylic floor finishes provide a look of depth in their sheen, and reflections are mirror like. Floors will look cleaner, be safer, and are more slip resistant, which is always a plus. Floor wax and floor finish products create a necessary protective final touch, and add to flooring longevity. They are a great investment, saving time and money in the long run.
